How to Cook the Perfect Chip


You Will Need


  • 1Kg Potatos (King Edward, Maris piper)
  • Vegetable oil or ground nut oil (enough for deep frying)
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt

How to make the perfect chip


Step One


Peel and cut the potatos into 1.5cm wedges


Step Two


In a pan add the cut potato wedges and add some cold and the salt, bring to the boil and as soon as it reaches boiling point remove from the heat. Leave to stand in the salted water for 3 Miniutes. Drain well in a colander.


Step Three


Heat the oil in a Deep Fat fryer or large pan to 120°C. Add the Potato chips and fry for 6 - 7 minutes until they are cooked and a golden brown colour. Take from the oil and place on kitchen paper to obsorb excess oil.
